School Profile

The school is located at zone
VI, Poblacion, Bayambang, Pangasinan, telephone number: 592-2704, 592-2207,
website: http://www.psubc.edu.ph/cms/; The school is under the College of
Teacher Education; serves as training ground for future HS Teachersin
Pangasinan State University.
2.
History and
Background
The PSU Bayambang Campus had a
very humble beginning. It started as the Bayambang Normal School in 1922. It
offered then the secondary normal course which prepared much needed teachers
for the country. The school closed in 1935 due to inadequate funds but
re-opened in 1948 under a new name – the Pangasinan Normal School (PNS), which
offered the two – year teacher education program. It was one among the first
normal schools in the Philippines. It was in 1952 that the college offered the
four – year degree in teacher education for elementary teachers by virtue of RA
No. 975. In 1953, the school with elementary schools in the District of
Bautista and the Bayambang National High School were merged to become the
Philippine UNESCO Community Training Center. It operated as a school division
then. Republic Act No. 5705 converted the school into a chartered institution –
the then Central Luzon Teachers College on June 1969.
The Pangasinan State University Bayambang
Campus is also among the constituent campuses of the University to actively
house a Laboratory High School (a school under the College of Teacher
Education; serves as training ground for future HS Teachers) which dates its
history by its then – name, Central Luzon Teachers College. The Pangasinan
State University Laboratory High School offers secondary education in Science
Curriculum. The School also offered Basic Education Curriculum until March
2010. Batch 2010 – 2011 Seniors was the first batch of the school in years to
graduate from an all – science curriculum enabled sectioning. It also was the
first batch to graduate from an all – single section per year system which was
decided upon dating back on 2007. The batch makes history in being the first batch
to hold graduation rites in the first ever Integrated Closing Exercises which
houses both the LHS and KD – ELS (Kindergarten Department – Elementary
Laboratory School) in one Closing Ceremony. The Ceremony was successful,
uniting the two laboratory schools of the Campus; KD – ELS and LHS.

Academic Support System
Pangasinan State University Integrated School- HS
Department has 7 class, 1 for grade VII, 2 for grade VIII, 2 for grade IX and 2
for grade X. They have library, faculty room and there are instructional media
like a projector, laptops, and printers for helping teachers to give stimulation
to the students.
C.
Teaching System
This
school use the materials accordance with core curiculum of K 12. Every subject
has two books. First book for teacher as teacher’s guide and second book for
students. But, the teacher can use other book or resources for teaching. And I
think it’s looks like in my country. In Indonesia, we also use two books for
each themes. The book for teacher and student. Sometimes teacher used picture,
video, and create their own materials for teaching.

Teaching Plan
Format
of lesson plan in Philippines it’s really different with Indonesia. In Philippines,
they are more specific and like conversation between teachers activity and
students activity. And lesson plan arrangement if from Objectives, Subject
Matter, Procedure, Evaluation, and Assignment.
On
objectives there are purpose of the lesson of today, example students be able
to differentiate feeling, naming and action words. Also the teacher must
include cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Subject matter there are topic,
reference, and material. In procedure there are preliminary, preparation,
lesson proper, generalization, and application.
PART II
PEDAGOGICAL CONTENTS
A.
Teaching Methods
The methods used in secondary school is inquiry-based.
The teacher always asks questions to the students related to the lesson. The
teacher repeats the question until the students understand the question. Also,
the teacher always say “very good” or “excellent” whenever their students
answer the questions correctly. In that way, they can make their students feel
good. From the questions or activities, the students can guess what will be the
topic of their lesson.
B.
Learning Materials and Innovation
The materials based on curriculum and book. Teacher can add
other materials like pictures, chart, video, story telling, etc. For
innovation, the teacher using qeustions and cooperative learning.
C.
Sources of Learning and Technology
For sources of learning, the
teachers at PSU – Integrated High School Department use K-12 curriculum, and the other sources are
based on books and internet. With the use of learning media such as projector,
laptops and DLP, students acquired better learning.
D.
Authentic Assessment
The foundation of authentic assessment revolves around
evaluating a students’ ability to apply what they have learned in the lesson.
Authentic assessment measure students' understanding and measure teachers’
learning success. Authentic assessment in the classroom based on my observation
are performance assessment, questions-answers, self-assessment, worksheet,
observing assessment.
PART III
TEACHING PLAN
A.
Curriculum
On
the teaching plan here in the Philippines is quite different. They don’t have
this core standard and are instantly broken down into specific learning
objectives. And it's all based on their curriculum guide. Their teaching plan
provides detailed learning resources, varied learning activities, and learning
assessments. I have observed that the procedure or flow of the lesson are
student-centered, while their assessments are performance based which assessed by rubrics or
mechanical ratings.

PART IV
OBSERVATION ON TEACHER
A.
Planning For Teaching
The
teacher before teaching in the class, the teacher is arrange the lesson plan.
What are the activities in the class as long as teacing learning process begin.
B.
Preparing Lessons and
Materials
Teachers
always preparing lesson before their teaching, like preparing lesson plan,
preparing materials, visual aids, sometime teacher also prepare a prize as
motivation. So, when teacher teaching step by step will be complete and arrangeble. Teacher use media
learning like chart, pictures, manila paper,
video and that’s all is helpful in learning.
C.
Teaching in Class
In preparation, teacher will ask pupils to
sing or give them motivation, and after that the teacher will ask about the
previous lesson to check their understanding. Quick review of past topics
before starting the main activities is a must.
In presentation, teacher will give
information regarding to the topic trough motivation activity.
In the development of the lesson, the teacher
will give the others question and pictures again, and teacher will ask the
pupils for examples about the lesson.
In generalization,the teacher will ask the
students, “what is the importance of the lesson?” and the students will answer
the questions based on their understanding.
In application, sometimes the teacher uses
cooperative method. Teachers will divide the class and group them to work
together or teachers will provide interesting activities to find out how far
students understand the lesson. In evaluation step, teacher will give pupils
worksheet for evaluation.
D. Measurement and Evaluation
Teacher
will give pupils evaluation like worksheet, or activities in their book.
Teacher seldom give a homework to pupils.
PART V
TEACHING PRACTICE
A.
Procedures of Teaching
In the beginning, the teacher
will review the lesson to makae sure pupils understanding their lesson on last
meeting. After that, I will give some motivation to pupils, like give them game
or exercises interesting to make pupils curiously. After that, teacher will do
question-answering until pupils understand and they can guess topic of lesson.
The pupils will not immediately be able to guess the topic of learning, so
teacher should be repeat the questions, but the questions it should be from the
others objects. Then the teacher will ask to pupils to give some others
example, if the students can give others example it indicates that they have
begun to understand. In the learning the teacher will give a pray them “very
good” accourding to the situation. In the end of lesson, I give a worksheet as
an evaluation.
B.
Time Management and Organizing Activities
My
supervisors give me some tips how to control a class as follow:
1.
If there are pupils who are not paying attention teacher can
give them warning like teacher can counting for 3 until 1, and when teacher say
1 pupils shoul be quiet.
2.
When the teacher is writing on the board, teachers should
not turn their backs on pupils, so that teachers can write while paying
attention to pupils.
3.
Write on the board should be fast.
While teaching, the teacher also
give answer and question to the students, so that students will not pay
attention to the other objects.
C.
Problem Solving
First
time the teacher teaching in the class,
the teacher get a lot off comment, whether good or not too good point. The
point that not so good is like the teacher should be more carefull to give
example that teachers’ make by her self. The teacher should be make visual aids
more visible, write systematic from left to right, give chance to the student
to copy material in the board, use eraser properly. So on the next teaching I
try to improve my mistake on the lesson. The other comment was so nice is like
the teacher have clear voice, conffident, easy to make student pay attention or
focus, student participate is good, mastery of the material and etc. The good
point will be always tried to stable.
D.
Classroom Management
The teacher don’t have a big problem
to classroom management. The only problem is sometimes the pupils talk tagalog,
and the teacher don’t understand half of the sentences if they asking event
they also use body language. To solve the problem i ask the student who mastery
in english or i ask practice teacher to tranlate it. Sometimes, I have hard
time doing classroom management, example when in the evening the pupils feel so
tired some of them so hard to make them listening our lesson. Good point that
my supervisor instructor said that I always come the the pupils when they are
doing some activity and my supervisor instructor told me, if you write on the
board don’t forget to see your pupils, because sometime if you didn’t watch
them something happen to your pupils.

SUMMARY AND SUGGESTION

Procedures of Practicum
Before
I start the practicum a have to know what a subject and topic of my lesson.
After that I make a lesson plan. Then, my lesson plan will be checked by my
supervising instructor. They will give some correction on my lesson pan, and
they give me some advice to make my lesson become good. Next, I revise the
lesson plan to be the correct one. After that, I make my instructional material
for my lesson, because in high school rarely use projector. I must make the
instructional material by my self and using my creativity. If I finished make
my instructional material. Then I will teaching in the class, after I finished
my the teaching, my supervisor instructor will give me some evaluation and give
me some suggestion. The reason why my supervisor instructor give me an evaluation is for make
me to be a good teacher.
C.
Outcomes of Practicum
When
I teaching in the class my lesson doing great. Thera are no big problem, and I
teach based on the lesson plan that I made before.
D.
Overall Impression
The
conclusion of my teaching practice is I enjoyed the teaching practicum. My
lesson was same as my plans. I hope they are the pupils will understand what I
teach to them. And I hope I can take a good thing from this practicum.

Suggestions for Future Improvement
1.
Hold the picture properly and
print it in concrete material;
2.
Use words of praise if the
pupils answered your questions;
3.
Give more board work activities
to maximize allocation time of teaching;
